Moldova will harvest about 11.5 mln tons of wheat in 2024 – Minister

Moldova's wheat production is projected to reach between 1.4 and 1.5 million tons in 2024, according to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bola. The sown area for wheat has decreased by 20 thousand hectares from the previous year, covering a total of 320 thousand hectares this year. The yield per hectare is expected to vary between 3.5 and 4.2 tons, depending on various factors. Moldova consumes approximately 350 thousand tons of wheat annually, which is used for flour production and animal feed, while the remaining million tons are exported, contributing to both local needs and the international market.

The volume of wheat production in Moldova in 2024 is expected to reach 1.4-1.5 mln tons. This forecast was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Vladimir Bola.
