Record harvest of sunflower, rapeseed and soybeans in Russia in 2025

Dmitry Rylko, the head of the Institute for Agricultural Markets (IKAR) in Moscow, predicts a significant increase in oilseed production in Russia by the 2025/26 harvest. The total area for oilseed cultivation is projected to reach approximately 20 million hectares, with sunflower occupying 10.20 million hectares, a rise from the previous year's 9.76 million hectares. This shift has led to optimistic forecasts for record production, with sunflower seed production expected to surpass 18 million tons and soybean production reaching 8.38 million tons. Rapeseed production is also anticipated to hit a new high of 5.0 million tons.

In 2025/26, oilseed production in Russia will increase by 3.6 million tons to a record 33 million tons. This optimistic forecast was announced on April 3 by the head of the Institute for Agricultural Markets (IKAR - Moscow) Dmitry Rylko. During the annual conference of the oilseed industry, held on April 3 in Moscow, Rylko emphasized that expectations for record production are based on an increase in planted areas.
