The production of vegetable oils in Kazakhstan continues to grow at an accelerating pace. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, from January to August 2025, 594.9 thousand tons of products were produced, which is 27% more than in the same period last year (468.5 thousand tons). The growth is particularly noticeable in the sunflower oil segment: volumes increased by 27.2% — from 411.9 thousand tons to 523.9 thousand tons. An important factor was the expansion of cultivated areas: if in 2024, 2.9 million hectares were allocated for oilseed crops, then in 2025, this has already increased to 4 million hectares, of which 1.7 million hectares are for sunflower. The largest regions for sowing remain North Kazakhstan (23.3%) and Kostanay regions (23%), followed by Pavlodar (12.5%), Abay (10.2%), Akmola (9.2%), and East Kazakhstan (7.7%).
