IKAR expects record harvest of sunflower, soybeans and rapeseed in 2025/26 season

The Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) has predicted that the oilseed harvest for the 2025/26 season could reach 33 million tons, an increase of 3.6 million tons from the current year. This increase is attributed to the growth in sown areas and favorable weather conditions. The forecasted harvest includes 18 million tons of sunflower, 8.38 million tons of soybeans, 5 million tons of rapeseed, and 1.37 million tons of flax. However, IKAR notes that these estimates could still change. The sown area for sunflower is expected to increase, while farmers' attitudes towards soybeans are ambiguous. IKAR also anticipates record sowing areas for rapeseed, but there are concerns about the quality of rapeseed seeds, which could affect yield.

According to preliminary estimates by the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), the oilseed harvest in the 2025/26 season may amount to 33 million tons (excluding new regions, with them - 34.6 million tons) given the given forecast sowing areas and the absence of strong negative weather conditions. Thus, the harvest will exceed the harvest of the current agricultural year by 3.6 million tons. IKAR CEO Dmitry Rylko reported this during the Oil and Fat Conference. Of the forecasted 33 million tons, sunflower accounts for 18 million tons (16.2 million tons last year), soybeans - 8.38 million tons (about 7 million tons), rapeseed - 5 million tons (4.66 million tons), flax - 1.37 million tons (1.25 million tons).
