Chinese meat market: consolidation, safeguards, and the challenge of offal

The president of the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef Vaccine (IPCVA), Georges Breitschmitt, highlighted the positive balance of the Argentine participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) that took place in Shanghai, one of the most important trade events in the world.

"We are concluding the CIIE fair in Shanghai, a good fair in general terms, where we see consolidated prices, as has been demonstrated since the beginning of the year, but at the same time, a market awaiting the resolution of a safeguard measure, whose definitions must be given by the end of November," he said to Valor Agregado Agro. The leader explained that the global context is marked by "a fluctuation in the international market, a product of intense geopolitical movement," although he emphasized that the markets remain firm and diversified for Argentine meat. "Europe is a quality market, the United States as well, and China consolidates its role as a destination for commodity meat products," he pointed out.
