Boiled sausage is more popular with Russians than smoked sausage

Russia has seen a 2.1% increase in meat and poultry sausage production in the first 10 months of the year, totaling about 2.1 million tons. The Central Federal District is the leading region in sausage production, followed by the Volga Region and Northwestern regions. Cooked sausages, such as frankfurters and small sausages, are the most popular, with a production of approximately 1.4 million tons. Smoked sausages come in second with nearly 600 thousand tons, and fried sausages are third with about 1.3 thousand tons. The Kaluga region leads in fried sausage production. The Russian market for sausage meat products is expected to continue growing, with exports projected to increase by 16% by the end of 2024.

In the first ten months of the year, the country produced about 2.1 million tons of meat and poultry sausages, which is 2.1 percent more than in the same period in 2023. About one million tons (48 percent) were produced in the Central Federal District, a fifth in the Volga Region, and nine percent in the Northwestern regions. Most of all, Russians love cooked sausages, frankfurters, small sausages, and shpikachki. Such products were produced in the amount of about 1.4 million tons (two percent more than a year earlier). Half of this was provided by meat-packing plants in Central Russia. The leader, the Vladimir Region, accounted for 18 percent of the cooked sausage market. In second place in popularity is smoked sausage. In 10 months, Russia produced just under 600 thousand tons of this type of product.
