Mr. Wadnere will also hold the full additional charge as Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. He replaces Satyabrata Sahoo as Secretary, Water Resources. The transfer assumes significance against the backdrop of the ongoing issues over the sharing of Cauvery water between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and the upper riparian State’s proposed construction of a balancing reservoir across the river at Mekedatu.
