Peruvian banana exports exceed 2023 figures

Between January and November 2024, Peru's banana exports have seen a significant increase compared to the previous year, with a total of 148,526 tons valued at $130.6 million. This marks a 7% increase in volume and a 12% increase in value. The majority of these exports, 97%, were made through Euroandinos Port Terminals – Paita, with the remainder through DP World. The Netherlands, the United States, and Italy were the primary markets for these bananas. The Netherlands saw a 5% increase in volume, a 15% increase in value, and a 9% increase in average price, while the United States experienced a 94% increase in volume and a 22% increase in value, despite a 37% decrease in average price. Italy's market received 19% less volume but saw a 5% increase in value and a 29% increase in average cost. Pronatur S.A.C., Agronegocios Los Ángeles S.A.C., and IREN Perú S.A.C. were the leading exporters to the Netherlands, the United States, and Italy, respectively.

Between January and November 2024, Peruvian banana exports have already surpassed the numbers achieved in all of 2023, with a total of 148,526 tons (+7%) for a value of $130.6 million (+12%), and an average price of $0.88 (+4%), according to Fresh Fruit. In November 2024 alone, as in October, shipments exceeded those of 202: totaling 11,315 tons for $9.6 million, this represented an increase of 8% in volume and 4% in value compared to the same period in 2023. For its part, the average price was $0.85 per kilogram, which implied a reduction of 4%. Bananas were shipped in fresh (95%) and processed (5%) formats. Export logistics were mainly channeled through Euroandinos Port Terminals – Paita, which managed 97% of shipments, followed by DP World, with 2%.
