Germany: New case of foot-and-mouth disease ruled out

A goat in the Barnim district was suspected to have Foot and Mouth Disease and was tested at the National Reference Laboratory for Foot and Mouth Disease of the Friedrich-Loeffler Institute in Germany. The results came back negative for the virus and specific antibodies, indicating the animal did not have the disease. However, testing is still ongoing in the surveillance zone to catch any potential outbreaks early.

Analysis carried out at the National Reference Laboratory for Foot and Mouth Disease (NRLFMD) of the Friedrich-Loeffler Institute (FLI) of a suspected case of the disease in a goat in the Barnim district did not reveal any evidence of the Foot and Mouth Disease virus or specific antibodies.
