250.4 thousand hectares of grains and legumes have already been sown in Ukraine

As of March 20, 2025, spring grain sowing has commenced in 19 regions of Ukraine, with a total of 250.4 thousand hectares sown. The sowing includes various crops such as barley, wheat, peas, and oats, with barley being the leading crop. The four most active regions for sowing are Mykolaiv, Ternopil, Kirovohrad, and Vinnytsia. The total area to be sown with spring grain and leguminous crops for 2025 is planned to exceed 5.7 million ha, consistent with the previous year. Notably, there will be a 28% increase in the spring wheat sowing area to 222.8 thousand ha, due to high demand from processing companies and exporters.

Spring grains are already being sown in 19 regions of Ukraine, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports. As of March 20, 2025, farmers in 19 regions of Ukraine have sown 250.4 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops. Currently, the largest area of crops is barley - 133.5 thousand hectares. Spring wheat has already been sown on 36.7 thousand hectares, peas - 57 thousand hectares, oats - 16.9 thousand hectares. Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: Mykolaiv region: 43 thousand hectares (wheat - 1.5 thousand hectares, barley - 22.5 thousand hectares, peas - 18.7 thousand hectares, oats - 0.3 thousand hectares). Ternopil region: 31.3 thousand hectares ha (wheat - 6.4 thousand ha, barley - 21.3 thousand ha, peas - 2.1 thousand ha, oats - 1.5 thousand ha). Kirovohrad region: 25.9 thousand ha (wheat - 0.9 thousand ha, barley - 14.5 thousand ha, peas - 10.5 thousand ha).
