The average price of frozen tilapia in Dounan, Taiwan, so far into June was TWD 89.75/kg, the lowest level in four months, down -13% YoY. This was the fourth YoY decline in six months, signaling prices are in a downward trend. A lower demand in Taiwan's main export market might be behind this downward trend in prices.
Over the past month, peach prices in France fell due to low demand. In Rungis, wholesale prices of Saturn peaches dropped by 61.5% to EUR 2.50 per kg on June 12 from EUR 6.50 per kg on May 15.
Despite the presence of Spanish peaches in the French market, consumer demand has been low, given that most consumers prefer French fruit over Spanish varieties. The French harvest is set to commence in a few weeks, slightly later than last season, following hailstorms towards the end of May.
Prices are expected to stabilize in the coming month as French peaches enter the market and buying activity improves.
