Olluco is a root vegetable and one of the most widely grown and economically important root crops in the Andean region of South America, second only to the potato. According to the National Statistical information (INEI), in Jan-21, olluco was one the products with the highest recorded increase at 20% MoM, along with green peas (91.2%), Chinese onion (30.2%), and carrots (29.5%).
In the last twelve months, the country's accumulated economic inflation climbed to 8.66%. The political climate has worsened the inflation further and has created a generalized increase in prices, with the most rising prices in the food and non-alcoholic beverage sectors of 0.67% MoM.
