In W1 of February 2023, the wholesale price of fresh cauliflower in Spain increased by 18.57% WoW to USD 0.83/kg. Price movements have been even more pronounced since the beginning of the year, with a 33.87% MoM increase from USD 0.62/kg in W1 of January 2023. Cold weather slowed down the plant development of leafy vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, disrupting the supply chain in the Spanish market.

Adverse weather in the W3 of January 2023, with a sudden drop in temperatures, profoundly affected the production of leafy vegetables in Spain, cauliflower, and broccoli, among others. Cold front decreased supply for weeks to come, making traders/suppliers unable to fulfill orders.
Besides lowered supply, the retailers shifted to purchasing just first-class cauliflower, pressuring on the demand side, which upped prices. Given the weather prognosis and supply disruptions, expectations are that cauliflower's price will remain at a similar level until mid-March in Spain.
