The wholesale price of fresh dates in Turkiye increased by 45% MoM to TRY 27.5/kg in W3 Feb-22. This is owing to increased demand in anticipation of the upcoming Ramadan season. Importers of Turkish dates have purchased dates in advance as Ramadhan is approaching in March 2023. In addition, Turkish fresh dates have become more appealing in the international market due to the drop in the exchange rate of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Turkish traders have boosted fresh dates exports because of the huge demand from the international market, especially in Muslim countries. Turkish dates are predicted to continue to be in high demand throughout Ramadan, which will keep prices high. With the expectation that after Ramadan, prices will trade lower towards April 2023.
