Chile's walnut industry has experienced significant growth over the last decade, becoming the third-largest global producer after China and the United States (US). Chilean walnuts are known for their large size, light color, and delicate flavor, making them desirable in international markets. Their strict quality and phytosanitary controls ensure high-quality products.
In 2023, the Chilean walnut production amounted to 170,400 metric tons (in-shell). This represents a 9% year-on-year (YoY) reduction in production due to adverse weather and the high yields of 2022. Medium-term production trends suggest continued growth, with expectations of reaching over 200,000 mt of in-shell production in 2024.
