Costa Rica is the largest producer of pineapples in the global market, exporting a total of USD 1.3 Billion (44.6K tons) in 2020. The main importers of Costa Rican pineapples are the USA, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and the UK. With its high economic dependency on the Pineapples industry, it provides premium quality pineapples and sustains reliable production and supply through the National Chamber of Pineapple Producers and Exporters (CANAPEP). Costa Rican pineapples are harvested per order request- and a set quantity is produced and harvested through set supply programs, which is driven by the three major multinational companies: Dole, Del Monte, and Chiquita.
