China: With an export price of up to 200 yuan/kg, Malaysian fresh durian targets the domestic high-end market

The first shipment of fresh Malaysian durian has been exported to China, fetching high prices, with Musang King durian selling for 258 yuan/kg. This is significantly more expensive than Thai and Vietnamese durians, which are sold at much lower prices. The higher cost of Malaysian durians is attributed to natural harvesting methods and high logistics expenses. Despite producing less durian than Thailand and Vietnam, Malaysia is marketing its durians as high-end luxury items, emphasizing their unique quality and taste.

It is reported that the first batch of fresh Malaysian durian was exported to China at a price of 200 yuan/kg, about 28 US dollars/kg, and the price of Musang King durian was as high as 258 yuan/kg. The price of frozen durian exported to China by Malaysia is about 160 yuan/kg, and the price of fresh durian is much higher than this. According to the Bangkok Post, the average price of Thai durian sold to China is 5.8 US dollars/kg, about 41 yuan/kg, while the export price of Vietnamese durian is about 4.22 US dollars/kg, about 30 yuan/kg. The price of Malaysian durian is much higher than that of other countries.
