Winter Cabbage Storage Decreasing… Price Strength ‘Outlook’

A survey by Dae-A Fruit and Vegetables has reported a decrease in the stored winter cabbage by 3.1% compared to the previous year and 5.3% compared to the average of the past three years. This is expected to keep the cabbage prices strong in March and April, although the price increase may be limited due to increased imports of foreign kimchi and fresh cabbage, and reduced consumption due to the economic downturn. Despite the decrease in stored cabbage, the quality was found to be good. The area for spring cabbage cultivation has increased, leading to an expected production increase of 0.5% from the previous year.

It was found that the amount of winter cabbage stored this year decreased by 3.1% compared to the previous year and by 5.3% compared to the average year.
