Ukrainian apple exporters are restructuring logistics due to the crisis in the Persian Gulf.

The escalation of the situation in the Persian Gulf region and disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have forced Ukrainian apple exporters to urgently seek new supply routes, writes EastFruit with reference to AgroTimes. According to the head of USPA Fruit, Vladimir Gurzhiy, after the start of the crisis, shipments had to be temporarily suspended while the companies adapted their logistics schemes. Currently, Ukrainian apples are being delivered, in particular, through the Saudi port of Jeddah. From there, the produce is transported by car through the desert to Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE. Another option is the entirely overland delivery by refrigerated trucks from the Vinnytsia region to Dubai. Restructuring the routes has significantly increased export costs. According to Gurzhiy, the cost of delivering a single consignment of 20 tons of apples has increased by several thousand dollars.
