Russia: The volume of industrial fishing in the Komi Republic has increased by 40%

The North-West Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries has reported a significant increase in the volume of aquatic bioresources caught in industrial fishing, with a 40% rise compared to the same period last year, totaling 195,244 tons. The most common catches include pike, freshwater perch, ide, and vendace, accounting for over 67% of the total catches. The region also hosts five fish farms, where rainbow trout and whitefish are bred. As of October 2024, the production volume reached 5.3 tons, with rainbow trout making up the majority at 4.5 tons. Commercial sales of rainbow trout have also seen an increase, totaling 3.6 tons.

According to the North-West Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, as of the beginning of November, the volume of aquatic bioresources caught in industrial fishing amounted to 195,244 tons, which is 40% more than in the same period last year. The most common catches are pike (22.4%), freshwater perch (16.9%), ide (16.3%) and vendace (11.5%), which together account for more than 67% of the total catches.
