The US is about to issue a "visa" to import Vietnamese passion fruit

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced successful outcomes from a recent collaboration between Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hoang Trung, and the US Department of Agriculture's Deputy Secretary, Hafemeister. This partnership, aimed at enhancing agricultural trade between the two nations, has led to significant progress in import approvals for Vietnamese passion fruit and the reviewal of new products like seedless lemons, guavas, and jackfruits. Additionally, procedures for importing US plant varieties such as tangerines, plums, and pomegranates are under review. The agreement also includes measures to boost trade by addressing trade defense cases against Vietnamese agricultural products and establishing a framework for enhancing pest management and digital transformation in quarantine management.

On August 28, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development informed about the results of the recent visit and working session in the US between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Trung and Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Agriculture Hafemeister. Accordingly, the two countries agreed to conclude technical discussions, move on to implementing legal procedures, and allow the import of Vietnamese passion fruit; Initiate the review process for new products from Vietnam, including seedless lemons, guavas, and jackfruits.
