The Korea Fisheries Resources Agency is investing 5.14 billion won in South Jeolla Province this year.

The Southern Sea Fisheries Resources Corporation announced that this year, the Southern Sea Regional Office will push forward a fisheries resource development project worth a total of 51.4 billion won, using both national and local funds, to restore marine resources and revitalize the fishing village economy off the southern coast of Jeonnam. Specifically, 44 billion won will be allocated for spawning and habitat creation projects (at 5 locations), and 7.4 billion won will be allocated for site surveys of artificial reefs and the management of reef fishing grounds (at 1 location). The spawning and habitat creation projects aim to create and improve habitat environments for regionally specialized species to induce natural spawning and hatching and to increase resources. This year in Jeonnam, regionally specialized species targeted include rockfish in Sinan, sand lance and rockfish in Goheung, and crab in Jindo.
