Brazil: Santa Catarina's chicken meat exports show the best result in the last five years

Santa Catarina has seen a significant increase in its meat exports, with September marking a record high since May 2019. The state exported 105.6 thousand tons of chicken meat, a 25.3% increase from the previous month and 23.1% from the same month in 2023, generating 386.7 million US$ in revenue. Overall, the state exported 173.6 thousand tons of meat, including various types, marking a 13.8% increase from the previous month. The state is responsible for 23.4% of the revenue generated by Brazilian chicken meat exports in the first nine months of the year. Additionally, Santa Catarina also contributed significantly to Brazilian pork exports, accounting for 55.3% of the quantity and 57% of the revenue.

The export of fresh and processed chicken meat had its best monthly performance since May 2019. In September, Santa Catarina exported 105.6 thousand tons of chicken meat, with increases of 25.3% in the quantity exported and 32.1% in revenue compared to August. Compared to September 2023, the increase was 23.1% in quantity and 33.4% in value exported. The data are from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), analyzed by the Center for Socioeconomics and Agricultural Planning (Epagri/Cepa) and available at the Santa Catarina Agricultural Observatory. In total, Santa Catarina exported 173.6 thousand tons of meat in September, including chicken, pork, turkey, ducks and geese, beef, among others.
