San Martín: Association achieved a fund of S/500,000 to transform coffee waste into bio-inputs

With the professional accompaniment of the Agroindustrial Technical Unit Ambo of the Technological Institute of Production (ITP), the Viña de los Alpes Association, from the San Martín region, obtained a fund of S/500,000 from ProInnóvate to develop an innovative project that seeks to transform coffee waste into regenerative bio-inputs and improve the management of its crops. The initiative will directly benefit the 120 coffee producers that make up the association and manage around 240 hectares in Alto Mayo. The proposal contemplates taking advantage of waste such as pulp, mucilage, and honey waters to create high-quality natural fertilizers, turning an environmental problem into an alternative to improve coffee production. Sensors and drones will also be incorporated to monitor the coffee plantations and more accurately understand the needs of the crops.
