Record export of sunflower meal: EU chooses Ukraine amid declining Russian supplies

Ukrainian meal export data for July: - Exports decreased by 28% from June but increased by 12% compared to July of the previous year, making it the highest volume for July in the last 4 seasons. - Exports to China decreased by 16%, while to the European Union (EU), they increased by 4%. - The EU is reducing imports of Russian and Belarusian sunflower meal, with Ukrainian and Argentine imports increasing significantly. - In the 2023/24 season, the share of Russian sunflower meal imports in the EU has decreased from 22% to 27%. - From July to June of the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine exported nearly 4.5 million tons of sunflower meal, marking the highest volume in the last four seasons. - The EU and China were the main export destinations for Ukrainian sunflower meal.

According to operational data of IA "APK-Inform", the export of Ukrainian meal in July of the current season decreased to about 290,000 tons, which is 28% lower than in June, but 12% higher than in July last year. In addition, it was the highest volume for July in the last 4 seasons. At the same time, we note that if the export of Ukrainian products to China decreased to 179,000 tons (-16%), the volume of shipments to the European Union increased to 102,000 tons (+4%).
