Peruvian loctao bean exports grow significantly and reach 7,562 tons between January and November

Between January and November 2024, Peruvian loctao bean exports saw a significant increase, reaching 7,562.5 tons compared to 132.8 tons in 2017. The majority of production comes from small producers in Piura, Lambayeque, and La Libertad. The main market for these exports has been South Korea, with the United States being the secondary market. The exports were mainly handled by Trading Agrosur Samy, Natural Source Peru S.A.C., and Masterpiece Graind S.A.C., with an 11.6%, 10.8%, and 9% share of the shipments, respectively.

The information is highlighted by market analyst Heber Chávez, who says that this bean is grown by small producers in areas such as Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad, where production is concentrated. “Loctao has been progressively growing in exports, and in the last six years it has grown 846.4% in the amount exported between January and November,” he explained.
