Norway's salmon and trout export revenues to rise by 2024

In 2020, Norway experienced a significant growth in its agricultural exports, with Germany showing the largest increase in salmon imports by 12%, amounting to 47,724 tons. The total salmon export value reached NOK 11.5 billion in December alone, marking a 7% increase year-on-year. Additionally, trout exports experienced a notable surge, with a 32% increase to 75,135 tons, valued at NOK 6.8 billion. Ukraine emerged as the most promising market, showing an 89% increase in the value of trout imports, reaching 14,315 tons. Overall, the United States, Thailand, and Ukraine were the leading markets for Norway's fish products, with significant growth observed in export values and volumes.

Last year, the largest increase in Norwegian salmon exports was to Germany, where exports increased by NOK 539 million, or 12%, compared to the previous year. Exports to Germany amounted to 47,724 tons, up 11% from the previous year. In December last year, Norway exported 112,000 tons of salmon worth NOK 11.5 billion, up 7% and 13% year-on-year, respectively. Norway exported 75,135 tons of trout worth NOK 6.8 billion in 2024, up 32% and 23% year-on-year, respectively. Norway, the United States and Thailand are the largest export markets.
