Meat production in Kazakhstan falls

In January 2024, Kazakhstan experienced a significant decrease in agricultural production, with meat production falling by 18.4% to 6,700 tons and the total output of meat and by-products decreasing by 16.9% to 33,600 tons. Poultry meat production saw a 15.1% decrease to 11,200 tons, and sausage production also fell by 20.2% to 5,500 tons. Milk and cream production, however, only saw a minor decrease of 4% to 50,600 tons. Looking at the same period in 2025, there was a notable increase in the slaughter of livestock and poultry by 2.5%, as well as an 8.9% increase in milk production and a 2.5% increase in egg production. As of February 1, 2025, Kazakhstan had a total of 45.9 million poultry, 8 million cattle, 20.2 million sheep and goats, 4.4 million horses, and 498,700 pigs.

According to the Kazakhstan State Statistics Bureau, meat production in January also fell by 18.4% compared to the same period last year. The national meat production in January 2024 was 6,700 tons.
