Korean Beef Association Demands Establishment of Stable Supply System for Domestic Agricultural and Livestock Products in Presidential Election Pledge

The National Hanwoo Association has proposed a set of pledges for the upcoming presidential election to ensure a stable supply of agricultural and livestock products and enhance food security. Amidst concerns over climate crisis, price instability, and rising production costs, the association advocates for a shift in agricultural policy to prioritize food security and industry competitiveness. The proposed pledges include the enactment of the Hanwoo Act, increased national quarantine for livestock diseases, agricultural electricity rate support, and the implementation of a feed stabilization fund system. Additionally, the association emphasizes the importance of protecting the Korean beef industry and maintaining stable income for farmers.

The National Hanwoo Association (Chairman Min Kyung-cheon) announced the pledge requirements for establishing a stable supply system for domestic agricultural and livestock products and strengthening food security ahead of the 21st presidential election to be held on June 3. The Hanwoo Association emphasized that since this election is being held early due to impeachment, practical policies should be established to resolve social conflicts, unite the nation, and recover the stagnant economy. In particular, it stated that the issue of food security due to the climate crisis is no longer an issue limited to the agricultural sector but an issue that requires a response at the national strategic level.
