Kazakhstan Ministry of Agriculture: Horse meat exports to Europe enter final approval stage

The Ministry of Agriculture in Kazakhstan is actively working towards expanding the export of livestock products, particularly horse meat, to the EU, with the country being in the final stage of obtaining all necessary license documents for this purpose. The Ministry has also reached an agreement with Turkey on the veterinary and sanitary requirements for beef exports, with the response from the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry awaited. Kazakhstan's national beef production is on the rise, with a 7.5% increase in 2024 and a continued growth trend in 2025.

In response to a written inquiry from Kazakhstan News Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that the Ministry's Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee is actively promoting the work of expanding the export of livestock products to the EU. At present, Kazakhstan is in the final stage of obtaining all necessary license documents for the export of horse meat to the EU. Relevant enterprises are fully prepared and have reached specific agreements with partners. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture also provided the latest information on meat exports to Turkey.
