Intensive Inspection of Pesticides, Antibiotics, and Salmonella in Laying Hen Farms until August The Jeollanam-do Animal Health Testing Institute (Director Jung Ji-young) is launching a three-month intensive safety inspection of eggs from laying hen farms until August to provide safe food during the summer season. The inspection is being conducted considering the rising consumer anxiety due to continued egg price increases and the heightened possibility of pesticide use as chicken mites become more active during the hot and humid summer. The institute plans to collect eggs from 116 laying hen farms and conduct residue and harmful bacteria tests. The inspection items include 34 types of pesticides and a total of 81 types of residual substances, including antibiotics, and salmonella bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
