Thailand supports livestock to grow low-cost food

The Department of Livestock Development in Thailand has initiated a project to boost the production of high-quality roughage for small-scale livestock farmers. This project, part of the government's 'Market-led, Innovation-enhanced, Increased Income' policy, aims to support the production of animal feed through innovative cultivation and processing techniques. The project will be implemented across 11 Animal Research and Breeding Centers, spanning 5,500 rai of land. The initiative includes activities such as animal feed supply distribution, land title deeds granting to farmers, and demonstrations on producing high-quality roughage.

Mr. Itthi Sirilatayakorn, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said after presiding over the kick-off of the high-quality roughage production project to help small-scale livestock farmers, which was attended by Mr. Somchuan Rattanamangkalanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, and relevant parties at the Beef Cattle Research and Development Center, Lam Sonthi District, Lopburi Province, that the Department of Livestock Development aims to implement the high-quality roughage production project to help small-scale livestock farmers in accordance with the government’s policy of “Market-led, Innovation-enhanced, Increased Income” by integrating cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to support the production of high-quality animal feed plants (corn) through the use of innovative cultivation and processing using the fermentation method on the land of 11 Animal Research and Breeding Centers, Department of Livestock ...
