India hosts its first events to promote mangoes in Iceland

India organized its first mango promotion events in Iceland, presenting four premium varieties — Dasheri, Chausa, Langra, and Kesar — to local importers, business representatives, and officials. These events were organized by the Indian Embassy in Reykjavik and APEDA on June 24 in Reykjavik and on June 25 in Akureyri, in northern Iceland. According to the PIB, this initiative aimed to introduce Indian mangoes to Icelandic buyers and explore new export opportunities. The program also highlighted mango production in India, quality assurance measures, market access efforts, and international promotional activities. Iceland currently imports mangoes mainly from Thailand, Brazil, Cambodia, Ghana, and Peru. In 2025, the country imported approximately US$3.3 million worth of mangoes, including about US$1 million from Thailand. The PIB reported that local consumers have shown interest in mangoes, particularly for smoothies, desserts, and fruit salads.
