In the first 10 months of this year, Cambodia exported 790,000 tons of cashew nuts to Vietnam, generating revenue of US$1.11 billion

Cambodia's cashew production saw a significant increase of 26% in the first 10 months of 2024, reaching a total of 840,000 tons compared to the same period in the previous year. The majority of the cashews were exported to Vietnam, contributing to a 9% rise in price compared to 2023. With a positive outlook towards becoming a major global cashew producer in the near future due to increased land cultivation and improved harvest yields, the industry faces challenges from climate change. However, farmers and the government are implementing advanced planting techniques and providing training to adapt to the effects of extreme weather.

Suy Kokthean, vice chairman of the Cambodia Cashew Association, said that in the first 10 months of 2024, Cambodia produced a total of 840,000 tons of cashews, an increase of 26% over the same period last year. Among them, cashews exported to Vietnam accounted for the vast majority, creating considerable economic income. At the same time, cashew prices rose by 9% compared with the same period in 2023. Suy Kokthean pointed out that Cambodia has the potential to become a leading global cashew producer in the next four to five years, thanks to the increasing production and higher harvests year by year.
