In Russia, the share of main oilseeds in crop rotation will increase

Russia's agricultural plan for 2024-2025 aims to increase the sown area for oilseed crops from 22% to 23.5%, with soybeans and rapeseed seeing a projected increase in cultivation. The total agricultural crop area is expected to grow from 4.3 to 4.4 million hectares, particularly in the Far East. The harvest projections for sunflower, soybeans, and rapeseed have also been adjusted upwards for 2025, with the most significant increases seen in certain regions like Omsk, Novosibirsk, and Altai Krai. The profitability of sunflower, soybean, and rapeseed cultivation is anticipated to reach over 60%, 35%, and 30% respectively by the end of the current season.

At the same time, the sunflower harvest in 2025 may amount to 18.5 million tons against 14.9 million tons in 2024, experts believe. Based on the results of last year, the crop harvest increased the most in Altai Krai (+394 thousand tons), Orenburg Region (+361.2 thousand tons), Tatarstan (+137.6 thousand tons), Volgograd (+87.1 thousand tons) and Samara (+73.5 thousand tons) regions.
