Huánuco led potato production nationwide in January 2025

In January 2025, Peru experienced a 9.0% increase in national potato production, reaching 290,914 tons, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). This growth was primarily due to favorable thermal conditions and normal to above-average rainfall, which positively impacted the vegetative growth and tuberization of plantations. The Huánuco region, the country's leading producer, saw a 58.5% increase, followed by Ayacucho, Cusco, and Arequipa. However, production decreases were observed in several regions, including Apurímac, Piura, La Libertad, Lima, and Cajamarca.
