The Cheongdo Peach Research Institute has developed a new variety of flat peach, 'Saebbitbando', which is smaller and flatter than regular peaches and has a high sugar content. The institute has applied for variety protection and plans to produce seedlings through a license transfer to a seed company after a 2-year cultivation review. The institute also plans to continue developing new peninsula-type peach varieties and has so far developed 18 varieties, accounting for 6.2% of the national peach cultivation area.
