Good ginger harvest, good price, farmers wait for prosperous Tet

Farmers in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, Vietnam, are experiencing a bountiful ginger harvest and enjoying high prices, leading to increased happiness and financial stability. The cost per kilogram of fresh ginger has seen significant increases over the years, offering a more profitable crop compared to others. Despite the challenges of ginger cultivation, such as requiring specific soil conditions and a long growth period, farmers have found success through careful cultivation practices and selecting the correct seed tubers. Additionally, ginger traders are buying large quantities to meet market demand, with expectations of the price to further increase in the main season, potentially reaching 30,000 VND/kg. This has encouraged more farmers to allocate more land to ginger cultivation, contributing to a strong market for the product both locally and provincially.

These days, walking along the Ho Chi Minh Highway West from Khe Sanh town to Tan Hop, Huong Tan communes... (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province), everywhere you can see people harvesting ginger, bringing it back to the yard to wash and wait for traders to buy it. This year, ginger has a good harvest and good prices, so farmers are very excited. Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan in Tan Vinh village, Huong Tan commune, planted 3 sao (1,500m2) of ginger, this season and harvested more than 5 tons of fresh ginger. As soon as the harvest was completed, traders came to his house to buy it. "Fresh money, real rice" so he and his wife are very happy.
