Global fishmeal/fish oil production rises in first half of the year as Peruvian anchovy season opens

Peru has achieved record-breaking results in its anchovy fishery, catching over 2 million tonnes in just 40 days for the 2024 fishing season, which had a quota of 2.475 million tonnes. This success follows a sustainability-focused decision to halt fishing in the central and northern regions in 2023 to preserve the anchovy biomass.
