Ghana: Komenda Sugar Factory expected to become operational by the end of 2026

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) of Ghana stated that preparations are being implemented to bring the Komenda Sugar Factory, which has been inactive for a long time, back into operation by the end of 2026. This is part of the overall effort to restore Ghana's agricultural processing industry platform.

The proactive funding of agricultural land is expected to address one of the key bottlenecks that have hindered the factory's sustainability in the past. Established in 1964, the Komenda Sugar Factory has faced numerous technical and operational obstacles over the decades, leading to repeated closures and prolonged shutdowns, despite previous restoration efforts.
