(Agraria.pe) In May of this year, Peru shipped 545 tons of strawberries for a value of US$ 781,000, registering a drop of -76% in volume and -79% in value compared to what was registered in the same month of 2023 Likewise, the price decreased 11%, going from US$ 1.61 to US$ 1.43 per kilogram. The United States was the main importer of Peruvian strawberries (47% share), with 324 tons purchased at a value of US$367,000 (US$1.13 per kilogram). For its part, Canada was the second destination with 182 tons worth US$328,000 (US$1.80 per kilogram). Panama, for its part, closed with just 26 tons worth US$47,000 (US$1.78 per kilogram). Regarding product presentations, the frozen strawberry was the most notable, accumulating 271 tons for US$ 492,000, a figure that represented 67% of the total exported value.
