Cultivating ‘Oysters’ as a representative export product

The South Korean government is planning to position oysters as a key export product, with a production goal of 400,000 tons and an export value of $160 million by 2030. To achieve this, the government will establish dedicated oyster farming ports and aquaculture complexes, and implement strategies for the innovation of production facilities and technology, market expansion, and improved hygiene and safety management. The plan includes the integration of oyster processing plants, automation of production sites, diversification of oyster products for domestic and global markets, and measures to address land and sea pollution.
