China launches electronic system for origin certification of Russian fish on September 1

A collaborative project between the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, regional departments, CFMC, and Chinese regulators aims to digitize the export of fish products to China through the implementation of an electronic certification system. Developed by CFMC, the software is set for commercial use, marking a significant step towards automating the document process and ensuring the legality of fish products by confirming the certificate of origin. In 2023, Russia exported $2.9 billion worth of fish to China, including $1.6 billion of frozen fish and $1.2 billion of shellfish, underscoring the importance of this initiative for the fish export industry.

The control, supervision and fish protection department of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, the agency's regional departments, the Fisheries Monitoring and Communication Center (CFMC), and Chinese regulators are participating in the project. The software developed by the CFMC has been tested and configured and is ready for commercial operation.
