China is the largest consumer market for frozen butterfly-cut whole pangasius from Vietnam

By the end of August 2024, Vietnam's export of frozen whole butterfly-cut pangasius reached over 168 million USD, accounting for 13% of the total pangasius export and reaching its highest export value in August with over 29 million USD. The product was exported to 73 markets, with China being the largest consumer, accounting for 55% of the total exports. Colombia was the second largest consumer with an export value of 13 million USD in the first 8 months of the year. Other consumers include the US, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Iraq, Canada, Russia, the UK, and Uzbekistan. The number of enterprises exporting this product to China and Colombia is 46 and 12 respectively. The proportion of frozen butterfly fin whole pangasius in the total pangasius exports to China is expected to increase from 15% in 2018 to 25% in 2022.
