Chilean Army ensures animal welfare in emergencies

Captain Juan Quiroga S. of the Mountain Detachment No. 17 "Los Ángeles" shared the Army's protocols for treating animals injured in forest fires. The Chilean Veterinary Medical College praised the Army's efforts, highlighting its swift action and commitment in protecting both human life and animals. The Veterinary Service of the college provides care to horses, mules, and dogs, and ensures compliance with health regulations to protect military personnel.

The activity brought together experts and authorities from the sector, highlighting the participation of the Commander of the Veterinary Section of the Mountain Detachment No. 17 "Los Ángeles", Captain (OSV) Juan Quiroga S., who shared his experience in the clinical management and stabilization of horses that suffered injuries and burns due to forest fires in 2023. Captain Quiroga's presentation took place within the framework of the mission area "National Emergency and Civil Protection", which includes the Army's operations aimed at contributing to the management of the risk of natural disasters and catastrophes.
