Chile: New regulations on common potato seeds have been implemented for producers in the Arauco region

More than 80 common potato seed producers from the province of Arauco were informed about the new requirements for the production, storage, and commercialization of this material during an event in Cañete. The event, organized by the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Biobío, focused on aspects of Exempt Resolution No. 5,038 of 2025, which updates the requirements for the production and sale of common potato seed. These provisions will be mandatory starting from the 2027-2028 season. During the event, Roberto Ferrada, regional director of SAG Biobío, highlighted the importance of providing farmers with clear information and answering their questions, as well as offering them practical tools to comply with the new requirements.
