Catalonia: Aid to fruit farms that sell sweet fruit and almonds affected by frost

The Official Journal of the Generalitat of Catalonia (DOGC) has published an Order approving state aid regulations to compensate fruit farms affected by the April 2022 frosts. The aid is designed to support farms that suffered losses in their sweet fruit or almond crops, with cooperatives, SAT or other companies eligible if they own farms where at least half of the production is in regions affected by the frosts. To qualify, they must prove a minimum 30% decrease in the value of their 2022 marketing, corrected for inflation, compared to the 2017-2021 average. The aid can cover up to 80% of the loss of income, but is reduced if the farm has received compatible aid for the same concept. The aid is available to farms in regions where temperatures dropped below -6 ºC during the critical period for sweet fruit and almond plantations, leading to significant crop losses.
