Brief introduction of China’s tea import and export from January to October 2024

From January to October 2024, China's tea exports increased by 1.1% to 305,100 tons, generating a value of US$1.163 billion, with the average price dropping by 20% to US$3.8/kg. The exports of green tea, jasmine tea, and black tea saw an increase, while other tea types experienced a decline. Niger and Algeria saw the highest increase in export volume and value. On the other hand, tea imports rose by 35.6% to 44,504 tons, amounting to US$128 million, with an average price of 2.9 US$/kg, experiencing a 19.5% decrease year-on-year. The imports of dark tea and Pu'er tea increased significantly, while oolong tea imports decreased. The top five tea import markets were Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Kenya, India, and Myanmar.
