Brazilian wheat exports rise 21.6%, while imports grow 61.9% through September

Brazil's 2023/24 wheat harvest is expected to see a significant increase of 9.0% or 8.4 million tons, with Paraná state being the primary producer despite climate issues reducing productivity, as per IBGE and Conab. Despite these challenges, Conab anticipates a 2.1% increase in the 2024/25 harvest with a 15.5% productivity boost. Wheat shipments have risen by 21.6% to 2.5 million tons from January to September of this year, while imports have surged by 61.9% to 5.15 million tons. According to Conab, the reduction in productivity in the state is due to climate problems, such as frost, lack of cold weather and drought, and the occurrence of diseases in the plantations.
