76 Crop Disaster Insurance Items… Newly Introduced: Green Beans, Ginger, and Sesame

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in South Korea has expanded the items covered under crop disaster insurance from 55 to 76, including new crops and cultivation techniques. The insurance will now also cover natural disasters such as apple anthracnose and insufficient sunlight. The discount/surcharge sections will be subdivided to apply different insurance premium rates based on the disaster risk and natural disaster prevention efforts of each subscriber. The insurance coverage method for four types of fruit trees will also be changed on a trial basis.

This year, the number of items subject to crop disaster insurance has increased to 76. Coverage for natural disasters such as apple anthracnose and damage from insufficient sunlight will be strengthened, and the discount/surcharge section will be subdivided to improve the insurance premium rate. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has reorganized crop disaster insurance based on these contents in order to strengthen support for stable farm management, and began selling it through NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance, regional agricultural and livestock cooperatives, and product agricultural cooperatives from the 3rd. Starting this year, crop disaster insurance will be applied to a total of 76 items, including mung beans, ginger, and sesame seeds.
